I'm new to the RV world and fly N272DR an RV-3A. This is the article that caused me to buy the airplane! I'm looking out the window at 25 to 35mph winds at TTD, I wanna go flying! Its weighs 730.05 lbs. Thanks for the post!

It was 10 years ago that I posted this article on the RV3. I know many newcomers to this site that are thinking about building or are building will enjoy some history of how Van's Aircraft started.

He nailed it with his first kit?? airplane......... and did it without a computer!

Enjoy the read.

Default RV3 Updated Construction Methods

While I'm a couple of years from starting my own project of a 7 or 14, I have always loved the 3. Does anyone know if Van's is considering updating the 3 to the construction methods of the 10 and 14? I read how everyone loves the 10, 12, and 14 in the way they build, and then I read a lot about how many would love to have a 3 but do not want to attempt the project because of the difficulty. I would have to think with the advancements Van's has made in their kits that if the 3 was updated to build much easier, there would a lot being built. I think a lot of people would like to have just a single seater.

Simple answer = NO
For full discussions search the forums. It has been discussed many times. Answer is still no.
