Default Painting doors with handle / pins installed?

Hey all,

This may be a silly question... I'm installing the Planearound third latch kit and the Aerosport exterior handle on my RV10, and in doing research I've seen a bunch of builds that SEEM to be final safety-wiring and installing the handle mechanism and all pains before finish-sanding and painting the doors.

Justin Twilbeck's blog is an example: http://buildingrv10.blogspot.com/201...und-latch.html

Do people typically:

- keep the latch and handle assembly on the door and then paint around it, or
- disassemble everything for at least the interior painting step?

I've safety wired the whole assembly together so that I can locate the holes in the fuselage, drill the door blocks and measure my flanges for the mcmaster carr seals.

It would be nice to keep everything like this, but it seems like a pain to prime and paint around everything. Thanks in advance for the guidance here!

I assembled mine, disassembled, painted, and re-assembled.

Assemble everything and make sure you are happy with the total door operation, then disassemble it and paint.
