Aussie (Vic) Instructor needed
Hello all.
I am hoping that the wider RV community can assist me please. Firstly the background:
I am a part owner of an RV7A which is fabulous. Its primary owner is my Father in Law who is now 80+yo and pretty well past it and who has extremely kindly thrown me the keys. Unfortunately though, right at the moment I have only 40hrs of instruction up and as yet, do not yet have a licence to fly by myself. As such, I have been undergoing flight instruction from a great instructor in the RV7, which is/was a perfect arrangement - cheaper, great instruction in the worlds best light aeroplane, and local..
Unfortunately, my instructor yesterday got some medical results back which have immediately and permanently cancelled his ability to fly and therefore instruct. Sure, this is a pain for me, but I really feel for him as his whole world has been aeroplanes and he is right now in a terrible flat spin...
So I am seeking a qualified instructor who knows RV7's, to instruct me in order to complete my training. The aircraft and I are both based in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria. I have spoken to people in Ballarat who are my best choice so far but there is nobody there who has had anything to do with RV's. I have also considered a return to the Bacchus Marsh school but this is very much not my preference. I therefore just thought that I'd throw this out there and see if anybody has a great solution for me?
Thanks guys - any thoughts or suggestions will be very much appreciated and considered as I simply can't wait to get up there and amongst you.

Geoff, try Gerard Lappin at latrobe Valley airfield, he has a variety of RV's to choose from 3 4 7 & rocket and is a great CFI phone 0427 889 467
he is going to show me how to properly handle a 3B

Gerard Lappin is great but a long way from Bacchus Marsh for regular training.
Who did you speak to at Ballarat? Inbound Aviation might be worth a call if you haven't already.
There are also a number of RVs at Kyneton I think. Worth a call to Kyneton Aero Club.

Thanks for all your feedback Gents - it is very much appreciated.
Whilst not totally resolved, we've very recently learnt that my instructors flying and instructing ability remains current and valid, but only until such time as any specialist's reports have been formally documented and lodged... We therefore have a window of opportunity and I'm about to commence a 2 lesson per day instruction schedule. The plan obviously, is to get as many flying hours in as possible before any restrictions are applied. I'm going to now pursue RPL level first and then PPL once complete so that I can keep flying and stay fresh.
It would seem though that eventually, I will need to find a authorized CFI or similar to sign off on the later testing requirements. I will therefore utilize your suggestions for Gerard Lappin & other local aero clubs. I do have three names to call at Ballarat already, so feel confident we can, from all of those, get a good resolution when required.

p.s. If there is so many RV's around locally, why is there not a local (Aust) VAF Forum link?

If you have 40 hours dual, have you passed the GFPT stage such that you could claim an automatic issue of the RPL?
That would at least allow you to fly the -7 until such time as you complete the XC & CTA stages of training.
