E-404 tip rib

I am busy assembling my elevators and am now instructed to attach the small E-404 tip rib to the spar, but the flange on the rib that attaches to the spar has not been bent, it just extends straight back from the rib. Is this done intentionally by Vans and if so how do you know where to bend it as the plans aren?t telling me anything.

Was recently going though this myself. If you look at Dwg 4a section B-B, towards the left of the drawing. You can see the show the flange bent up about 5/8 like the other flanges. But I think you need to adjust that to get E404 to stand proud of E403 as shown. Hope this helps

It certainly does thank you, so am I then correct in saying that you first installed the E403 rib and then the E404 rib?

Did you end up marking and bending the rib or fabricating your own flange?

Hi, sorry for late reply. I ended up bending the flange and it all worked out perfectly.
