We had ours crack a long time ago. Doubled it up and re-riveted it up. Now at 1310/1500 Tach/hobbs and still OK on the repair.

Guessing the OEM part cracked at 500-700 hours.....cant remember.

Thankful for this forum! Working on cowl now. Thought the bracket looked pretty "flimsy", so found this thread. Decided to "roll my own" based on experience of those that had this piece crack. Made it out of .063 sheet and angle.

I have screws for the bottom cowl, not hinges.
Ditto on the screws for the lower attach of the cowl. Hinges there would allow much more vibration to effect the center bracket. They would also allow more movement over time (the hinges), because they would wear due to the vibration they endure.

I used three quarter turn cam-locks on each side on my RV-10 here. I also fabricated a removable snorkel that attached to the bottom cowl and the F-10108A assembly. That modification made cowl removal/installation a snap that one person could handle easily.

I also broke one at around 150 hours.

I'll beef it up if I have to fix it again
