And N410RV, the orig. prototype, has 2000+ hours on the original standard part.

Hmmmm. I wonder if cowl attach variations make a big difference.
I have Camlocks on the perimeter.

Mine's original at 1265 hours.

I have screws for the bottom cowl, not hinges.

I have three dzus fasteners each side on the bottom cowl and it cracked at about 150 hrs. Made a new one from slightly thicker material and made the top longer to take two fasteners. One as per plan and one about one inch back with a rivnut into the belly skin. Ok up to now at about 430 hrs

I used screws and my bracket is intact after 6 years on a rough field. Didn't look like it would last.

I'm theorizing that the hinges at the bottom allows for more movement and might be contributing to the problem. I know many builders, myself included, installed screws to attach the bottom of the cowl to the fuselage.
Any of the broken one's from bottom cowls attached with screws?

Default 1000 hrs ok

Mine is fine after 1000 hrs. I've got 1/4 turn fasteners on the bottom cowl. They're also powder coated.
