Default Cracked lower cowl attach bracket

Anyone seen a problem like this before?

I found the problem during maintenance for an unrelated issue. I guess I got lucky.

Yep common problem. Mine lasted 1 year. Cut it flat and rivet on some angle.

Mine too. Consider building a bracket that has the vertical support aligned with the nose gear fairing, instead of offset by 3/4". I would post photos, but well, that just isn't working out for me anymore.

I've seen this in a friend's RV10. I reinforced mine from the get go because of that.
I'm theorizing that the hinges at the bottom allows for more movement and might be contributing to the problem. I know many builders, myself included, installed screws to attach the bottom of the cowl to the fuselage.
Any of the broken one's from bottom cowls attached with screws?

Whilst I was doing the build, I realized that his part was simply not going to be up to the job. I made a simple mod by doubling up with a mirror image - turning it from a "C" to an "H".
