Coolest "junk" I have ever found.
Doug, I did not know where to put thist post. Sorry.
On Thursday I went to an aircraft junkyard. I was looking for items that could one day be considered art. I found some cool stuff. I plan to turn the fan into a wall clock and paint nose art on the panels and elevators.
TF-30 fan
Helicopter panel
Helicopter elevators

The information that I post is just that; information and my own personal experiences. You need to weight out the pros and cons and make up your own mind/decisions. The pictures posted may not show the final stage or configuration. Build at your own risk.

Does anyone on this forum sell templates for military letters? There are plenty of people out there on the internet but I want to support people from this forum first. I need the templates to paint the panels shown above.

Paint masks
You might try Vince Frazier at www.vincesrocketcom
He is doing some work for me and indicated that he could make masks.
Look under the products link and it shows a bunch of his stuff.

The USAF uses a USAF Amarillo font... it can be downloaded here...
http://www.tlai.com/med_des/amusaf.html
It is about the only font that exactly matches the FAA block number registration requirements for width and stroke width... and it looks good in the right location...
If you download the font to your PC... you can use a drawing program to get 1:1 stencils defined...
Same site also has a download for this type of stencil...

stencils
Gil, (or anyone else)
Do you know where to get the fonts used by the Army Air Corps in 1942? I need to paint some lettering on my 1942 Taylorcraft L2.
Thanks,
Tony

Just curious, does anybody know why Military Stencil A looks like it does? I always thought it was to confuse foreign enemies from being able to read markings, maybe not.

When punched into stencil card, all of the components are held together. Think about a "B"; how else do you get the letter to stay together in place so that it can be spray-painted over?
