Default Sanding fairings

I'm finishing the v-stab and rudder fairing tip assembly. One of the last steps prior to riveting on calls for finish-sanding the "entire tip fairing". I want to make sure that this means the entire outer surface of the tip fairings not just the edges that I had to shape in an earlier step. If so, I assume I need to use a finer grit, and also assume this is to remove scuffs and scrapes to prep for paint down the road. Am I correct? 160-200 grit? Thanks
