Looks like this will also let me measure how much torque it takes to turn the nylon lock nut on the threads, and then add that value to my desired torque.

Are there any gotchas to using a beam torque wrench?
Only if you don't follow the instructions.
Specifically, you must pull on the handle in only the specified place, in the specified way, for it to read accurately.

What I wouldn't give for a neat little table that shows me the "old" AN number to the "new" MS number. So far aircraft spruce and wicks have been good at helping to figure most of it out without spending hours searching

Default Conversions

Go to www.gen-aircraft-hardware.com and get their catalog. It has all the conversions and a lot of other good info.
