Default Governor
I will be needing to purchase my governor soon.

What is the general consensus?

Buy the MT, PCU5000, or the Hartzell?

I will be using an MT prop...

I did the MT prop with the Hartzell. Both are good, but my reasoning was you can get parts and service faster with the Hartzell governor, if something fails while your traveling.

See the VAF forum on propellers and yesterday's thread here on governors. A multiyear run of MT governors with serious deficiencies and laggard company response makes one cautious about MT products.
