Not too bad for a resort area, as long as you don't need too much gas.
Thats why I found KLBT. It's just far enough away to burn 10 gallons so when I land at HXD I would only have to take the minimum and have a full tank to head home. Well, that was the old days when I lived up north....now I have to choose a non-stop 2.5 hour flight with expensive gas or save a few dollars and stop.

Either way, HXD is a grat place

Back home to reality!

276.8 NM direct one way
1:38 to @ 9500
1:37 from @ 10500

~170 knot average

Beats 6-6.5 hr drive any day!

Flight home was 95% CAVU. Some clouds over the mountains around Asheville. Hot and hazy dropping down out of the clear near home base.

as for current prices on Hilton Head, hear is what I paid:

Fuel: $6.40/gal including all taxes, fees and weekend special

Handling charge of $43 was waived since I purchased > 10 gal

Ramp Parking: $10 per night

Infrastructure Fee: $5

Rental car was almost $100 more for the week by going thru the FBO which is typical I imagine.

Overall it was not as bad as I had imagined since this is a resort island destination that is mostly private.

The FBO line folks were awesome. Best service I have ever received!
