Default Gear brace priming

I'm at page 29-03 and it says to mask off the mating surfaces and prime the rest then lube the mating surfaces to install. Why is that? The surfaces it mates to are primed and there was no note not too.

Is there a reason to not prime the upper and lower drag fittings? If the gear brace goes in shiny and lubed on the mating surfaces should these too?

I'll probably prime the whole upper and lower drag fittings and do
The mask for the gear brace. But who knows why it's like this?
