Default Oshkosh - Overnight stop from northwest

Flying to OSH from British Columbia I have traditionally overnighted at Bismarck ND. Unfortunately I have sometimes hit local events which have meant no rooms were available in town. I normally do not reserve ahead due to the vagaries of VFR flight.

Does anyone have suggestions for a GA friendly overnight stop between Bismarck and Osh. I am considering St Cloud Wisconsin but have not stayed there before.

Any local knowledge would be appreciated...

Default Aberdeen, SD

For the past two years, I have stopped at Aberdeen SD. Friendly FBO. No issues with hotel reservations on the spot, and the FBO dropped us off and picked us up the next morning. Plenty of food options within walking distance from the hotel.

If you can go as far as 04S, Field of Dreams , the casino is a very nice hotel.

Stayed there last week, nice room , $65 tax inc.

Privately owned airport, very friendly, and cheap gas.

+1 big time for Hangar 9 FBO at Aberdeen! Be sure to ask to see the manager's desk upstairs.

Default Day 1 stop

Ron,

You might consider Mandan, ND (identifier Y19), just outside the Bismarck airspace. Their fuel prices are usually one of the best. Currently $4.25. One previous flight from Oregon to OSH, stopped there and a local gave us a ride to a nearby motel.

Give my regards to Herb C.

Ron.
If you are considering St Cloud, Mn. and you are willing to go 40 miles south
I can provide a private room with bath, hanger room for your plane and gas currently at $3.87. transportation to and from airport, but no meals. will have to make do with restaurants. KLJF 4000 FT NEW RUNWAY
