When I had the seats made for my RV-8 by Luke at Classic Aero Designs I requested leather seats and inquired about Alcantra insets. Luke suggested Ultrasuede instead because Ultrasuede products meet FAA interior flame retardant requirements. I took his recommendation and I'm very happy with the results. Ultrasuede is a synthetic suede-like product that is similar to Alcantra. The seats have held up very well so far in the 530 hours that I have on my plane.
