Default Interference

My XCOM has developed a very poor ability to transmit my radio calls. Squelch is set properly. There is also a fair amount of static on receive. The antenna connection seems good. It does this with or without the prescribed filter they recommend. I'd appreciate any suggestions, or a good avionics shop in Northern California.

Default Radio problems

A good radio repairman once told me "90 percent of radio problems are ground plane related". I have on two occasions solved radio problems by removing the antenna mount and putting small "star" washers on the mounting screws between the mount and the skin of the aircraft. I suggest this before anything else. Good luck, Carroll
