Carb (Blue Floats)

Hi Guys

Im just in the process of updating my MA4SPA carb floats from the old metal float to the blue floats.

I noticed my floats are slightly different to some floats on the web, mine seem to have a metal clip missing on top (The u shape baffle?) The last picture is my float with part missing.

Can someone please explain if this part is needed or not? Seems like it was used to hold the needle valve on the metal float but not needed with the new one?
