Default Firewall F-401A and F-401B

May have to replace the firewall on my RV4 rebuild project. Do the F-401 parts from Vans come pre-bent or are they just a couple of sheets of stainless?
Thanks, Tom

Default pre bent

They are pre formed, and not that expensive. I replaced the lower firewall on my -4 and the new one fit perfect. I believe it was $60 (lower only).

Default Pretty easy

The halves go together pretty easy if you do replace them. They are razor blades though, be careful. and make sure you get the weld mounts and angles far enough outboard, that the side skins are flush later, instead of "sucked in" which require a shim.

The lower fit remarkably well on a mid. 80's fuse. Make sure you get the new, stiffer, corner brackets that are fully welded if you don't already have them. Extension drills and angle drill to back drill through the old holes. Someone 18" tall and super strong with 8-10 elbows in each arm helps too.
