Default Aviation maintenance...

I recall reading about a gentleman that back in the '50's or so did some research on failures after routine maintenance was performed. It seemed that he found that the failure rate went up after maintenance because of human error, parts fit, etc.

I have searched and can't seem to find his name or his research. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Perhaps Mike Busch at: www.savvyaviator.com can offer some ideas. Mike has written about aircraft engine wear rates versus time/TBO.

I think you're talking about Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) .

Here's the Wikipedia page that might assist you in finding what you seek: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reliab...ed_maintenance

The story was in EAA Sport Aviation. It was based on an analysis of aircraft lost in WWII: "The Waddington Effect".

Procure and read Mike Busch's e-book entitled Manifesto. It outlines all the data you're looking to review and is an easy and enlightening read.
