Registration Question

Hey All-

Wow... finally getting close enough to get the registration going. Well, probably should have started a month or so ago in reality, but that matters not.

My full (legal) name of Daniel is on my license, but I go by Dan 99% of the time. On the 8150 does it matter if I put "Dan" vs. Daniel on it or any of the FAA forms?

If it makes it easier I can do Daniel but wanted to see if it matters.

Thanks
dan

Yep!...................................

FYI - you can have anything you want on the data plate as manufacturer as long as it is listed exactly the same as manufacturer on the registration. I wanted my name listed as first MI last, but when I followed the EAA guide, I listed it as they specified last, first MI. Now I am stuck with that on my data plate. A later call to the FAA confirmed I could have had anything on the dataplate (Joe Blow LLC, etc.) but it has to be listed exactly that way on the registration form, including word order and format. The EAA guide, otherwise excellent, did not give me that little tidbit of information.

on-line FAA Registration

Disclaimer > I am not the official clearing house for information for the FAA E-AB Registration process.

I have started the process with DAR Vern Darley near Atlanta. Here is a part of one of his initial emails to me with instructions:

To create the portal account and start: https://awc.faa.gov/AWCExternalApplicant/Splash/Index

More info: https://www.faa.gov/aircraft/air_cert/airworthiness_certification/aw_cert_proc/

Even though the info seems to accept the paper 8130-6 application for airworthiness, the FSDO requires we use the new system.

The EAA has a video that takes you step by step. See EAA AWC training by Joe Norris. Recommend you watch it before you attempt the portal.

From what he says and the degree to which I have started this registration process, it appears that it has to be done via this new FAA portal on-line.

An initial step would be to contact your own DAR an get their advice for the FSDO you will go through.

Any questions, just ask, either here or via private message. I'm happy to help with the AWC process. If my video linked above doesn't answer your questions, let me know!
