What?s missing from the kit

What?s missing from the kit(RV9), and how much more is it going to cost me?

I know the engine, avionics, tools, And paint are missing. What else?

Should I plan on $2000, $10,000 or more in additional cost?

The reason I?m questioning the cost is because a Rans S21 kit comes in around $50k. So my assumption is the S21 is a more complete kit, am I wrong?

I?m sure this has been covered in so other thread, but I?ve not found it.

Interior upholstery is a biggie if you want to go all out $$$.

Yes, the Rans S-21 is surprisingly complete---more so than our RV 10 was.

Costing

Firewall forward items

The Firewall forward parts are missing from the kit cost on van's website, though depending how you want to think about it, you could consider it part of engine installation. Depending if you go FP or CS prop, the cost for this ranges from about $4k to $5.5k (I've been pricing this up recently).

One experienced builder once said to me the costs are roughly 1/3rd Structure (Kit), 1/3rd Engine & Prop, and 1/3rd for everything else (interior, avionics etc)
