Laura and I just got back from the 2012 Homecoming, and as usual it was a wonderful and worthwhile trip.

Here is a shot of the cowl exit that Brian at Show Planes has developed to smooth out the airflow in the RV 10 nose gear area.

And the front end of the new Show Planes cowl. That is a 15" spinner, and the lower portion of the intake is for the engine compustion air.

I dont know how I missed getting some (OK, lots) of photos of the increadible interior of this plane, Brian had certainly raised the bar with this, and it was all done with the production tooling he has been developing. Watch out for the new Show Planes RV 10 items to be on the market soon.

More Homecoming

Here is John Stahr's own RV 8-----what an amazing bit of artwork.

This is the right wing, it is a tribute to his wifes father, a WWII pilot.

Here is the left wing, honoring 3 members of the Blue Angles who died in the line of duty.

And this is the angel on the belly, something that was discussed a week or two ago on another thread.

John's plane is something that needs to be seen in person, no photo can do it justice.

Homecoming 3

We met up with Cathy Page, Acroflygirl here at VAF. She has been wanting to do some formation work for a while, and was able to get Joe Blank to give her some pointers, and after a briefing that lasted 45 or so minutes, she and Joe headed out to do some air work.

Laura, my wonderful wife, was lucky enough to be along as Joe's co-pilot, and photographer for the air work.

Heading out.

Homecoming 4

Here is an almost sundown shot to the east, thunder heads starting to build over the EAA hanger.

The weather was HOT!!! I thought this was Oregon, you know, the place where it never gets above 80, nobody has an airconditioner, it is always green, stuff like that.

Flying up we ran into layers of smoke from the north west wild fires, headed out at 8500, then went up to 10500, and finally to 12500---but the smoke went higher, so finally we decided to come back down a bit after the smoke started to thin a bit.

Flight was easy, and smooth and a bit boreing even.

We met a lot of good folks (as usual) and had a bit too much to eat (as usual) and generally had a great time---AS USUAL :D

There was a large contingent from Canada who showed up, sorry I dont have any photos. And I am going to let them tell of the adventure, which sounds like it was spectacular.

Start making plans to attend next year.

Canadian groups face book page

The Canadian Contingent has a facebook page "windsor rv aviators" their a fun bunch and on their page you'll find the story of their trip to, during, and,so far, from the Homecoming.

Fun times

Homecoming was a first for all of our windsor group. Wonderful experience for all. Most of us landed in up to 10 states all the way as low as california. Many are b lining home 2000 miles others have headed north to fly the canadian route and log book entries from 4 provinces. Stopped at aurora for the factory tour, sat on the flight line at homecoming with the sunset club. Met van himself again. The good people that hosted us were just top shelf. Thanks. What an experience and its not done yet.

Canadian contigent

I personally and also from the group of Canadians who attended this years' homecoming would like to thank you for showing such hospitality, and hosting a fantastik fly in. 3 of the planes have arrived home and the other three should be home before the weekend. We took some side trips. Beautiful country the west is.

Thanks from all of us
Windsor RV aviators.
