Sterna Props

Any RV drivers using Sterna Props? I seen them at Oshkosh 2019 and the ground adjustability and design seemed pretty interesting. I have a o320 160 HP and was looking at the 3-bladed prop with 68" dia, 2" blade shank, C profile medium pitch propeller.

Seems most of the users of this prop are the STOL crowd, price looks competitive and supposedly good for 2000 hours.

Thanks,
Justin

Whirlwind Props

Hey Justin , look at my current post on this subject. From Sterba to Sterna lol. I’ll keep you informed since we have same eg: 6A O320/160hp if interested. Pretty sure this will be my route. I have 4” spacer that might need changing out, working with WW as to options .

Sterna

I was looking at that prop at Oshkosh as well. Although I didn’t ask Sterna for the data, a well know prop manufacturer suggested I asked for their data showing they tested different engine with the prop for harmonics etc. I do have a friend that went that route for his Murphy Rebel, and sometimes they respond quickly, other times it takes numerous emails and then they often don’t answer all of his questions. He hasn’t flown his plane so I can’t give any report on his satisfaction.

Wouldn't a prop that's used mainly by the STOL crowd (even though it's adjustable) have the wrong prop twist for a RV?

Please keep me informed, I’m thinking about making the switch.

They have a multitude of profiles to choose from , I was looking at the 68” dia swift profile 3 blade design. They claim the hub and prop are good for 2000 hrs.

Justin,
Can't help with Sterna but I flew a Sterba 69/69 on my RV4 and VW powered Sonerai for three years.
I have seen the Sterna on several R-912 powered LSA's. Realize that the few successful adjustable pitch GA CS composite props (Sensenich, Whirlwind) have a long R&D trail for RVs. Be advised...

Well after several delays and talking to the factory forever it finally showed up.
Excited to work with the factory and see how this prop does on the o320!
