My first Selfy

My RV-7 is approaching 10 hrs in phase I now, I got my first in flight selfy, a family one will be nice, I will get that later.

My first passenger

My first passenger HAD to be my lovely wife/cobuilder. She bucked 99% of the rivets and did 99.9% of the fiberglass work. Here is the double RV grin! :D:D

This flight may have been better than my first flight.

love it!!! Congrats to you sir! My dream someday! The wife is soon to be my bucking buddy also! See me in about 5 years :D

Thanks, Robert.

Thank you Robert and keep building. We now have almost 90 hours on it since May. Day trips to the beach and mountains are wonderful. Giving lots of rides to others. We are really enjoying this magic carpet. :D

Busy busy busy with everything but the RV, but when you get a 46 degree day with light winds in December in Kansas you had better put everything on hold and get airborne. No one better to go flying with than my oldest daughter, every time we go her feet get a little closer to the rudder pedals.... I'm sure it'll happen soon enough.

This plane just keeps getting better! More fun, more challenge, mo' betta! Build until your eyes blur...this is unreal!

Christmas Eve day, I just finished another skim coat of Sheetrock mud in the living room and my parents just got in town. It's 2 hours until Church, 1500 OVC and 40 degrees and I haven't kicked the tires and lit the fires on the RV in 21 days. Time for Dad's first flight lesson, it was harder to get him to take the controls than for him to taxi and fly it. Pretty cool feeling overall, role reversal of him teaching me to drive the tractor/combine/truck (I learned to drive a 70' Ford 3/4 ton stick in reverse picking up electric fence in a wheat field standing on the floorboards when I was 7) Easy now, don't jerk it around just listen to what it's telling you and fl.... I mean drive it! Dad took us sight seeing for a .6 around local landmarks, he found out this flying thing ain't that hard....

Ok, here's my in-flight selfie! From one of my first flights in the 8.

The more I fly this thing the more I love flying this thing!

Right-side UP Downunder

John,
The great pic of you and Mt Hood prompted me to re-post mine.
Unlike yours, being Downunder, my head is pointing 'UP' in the USA sense.

Pete.

How cold, how fast, and how did the (presumably non-turbocharged)engine run?

Saw your post and wondered how cold it was at 15 grand, how fast did you see on GS and airspeed indicator, and how was the (what brand/size/options?) engine running at that altitude (oil temperature, rpm, fuel flow, EGT, CHT)?

Just curious if and when I try the same cruise altitude.

Thanks,

Duane Hopper

15000 ft

15000 was really a non issue other than sucking oxygen. I have an RV7A with an Aerosport IO 360 and dual Lightspeeds, on the panel a single Skyview and a Garmin GDU370. It is approved for IFR. As far as temps and pressures not much out of the normal. I do have an oil cooler shutter that works very well and is highly recommended.

On this particular trip coming back from the west coast I was trueing out at 155kts and grounding at about 185kts. On our next trip over the Rockies we came home with a GS of 205 knots at 13000 ft. Not too shabby.

As far as flying high goes, the highest I've gone is 18,000 ft. The last couple of thousand was rather slow and it sort of hangs there. Interesting but not something todo every day.

247 hours and still having fun.

Nice RV grin! Congratulations on making it out of Phase I. Now you can continue giving rides to your family and friends. That's when the fun starts.

Nice!!!!!

John,

I am absolutely thrilled to see you in the air. Congratulations!! How good it must feel to be finished with phase 1, and able to take friends and family aloft. Your daughter is a cutie, completely adorable. :)

Hopefully, I'm not far behind!

John, coming from someone with two daughters of his own, your post is inspiring. I hope to be in your shoes one day. Congrats and enjoy both family and plane!

John

Very cool pic (post 482)

Is that the big Koger shade? And would you go with that size again?

Thanks

Thanks everyone. It has been great getting into the air with my family. I just love Jessica's smile so I had to post this picture for others to share.

That is a standard Koger shade, not the larger one. I like mine, but I haven't tried the larger one to compare.

Flying home after buying RV-12 SN120058 from original builder with 50TT. You can't see the smile... :D

reality

OK... gotta say.... that is one ugly dog. But the plane and photos are beautiful. How is that for capitulating????? My dog smells good to me, but others tell me she stinks some times. I suppose we dog lovers and RV flyers are just human.

The first passenger after Phase I

Here's my lovely wife Kathy on her first flight in our 9A 789KD. As she was a Kathy the riveter she has a special commitment to our airplane
