Fun Formation

I probably got to do something today that I thought would never happen and will only get to do once. That was to fly formation in my RV-8 with a P-51 Mustang. What fun. I have attached the link to the video. It was bumpy so had youtube try to smooth it out. Not sure if I like the way the screen jumps around but a better quality picture of the Mustang.

Hearing the prop is what got my attention, Moonbeam Mcswine tucked up on my Pitts years ago. Much louder than the engine until he decided to push it up and dust me.

Considering the chop, looks like you gave him a good lead to follow. Noticed the elevator forward trim. What speed were you holding?

I have had the pleasure of doing the same with my friend Alex's P-51(Angels Playmate) next to my -4..Alex also had a -4, and now has an F1 Rocket. Also got to fly formation/escort for the C54 "Candy Bomber" and thats an odd feeling with that big beast next to you!

That would be a great site and great experience 😃

Well Bat Man you can thank me for the formation. I paid for a one hour flight on Saturday. Intercepted a B25, some acro, tore up my home field at 250k++, went by Bat Mans place for a reconnaissance pass, more acro. He came back by our places 3 times Saturday and four more times on Sunday.

I flew formation with him after you in my 8 on Sunday. He then took one of my young employees on a free 30 minute reposition flight to Fredricksburg. I picked them up and flew them back in my 180.

A typical weekend and for just $.88 per second.

You owe me lunch.

Wow. Sounds like you had a great time George...:) Yes, I do owe you lunch...LOL I figured he had to know someone close to the field. It was by accident that we met up. He was looking for a ride back to Stinson when I first talked to him and then he said someone was going to help him out. Glad to hear it was you.
