Low-cost high-temp GoPro knockoff?

FinnFlyer

Well Known Member
Looking for ideas for a low-cost action video camera that will tolerate engine-bay temperatures that can also be mounted under the wing for checking gear shimmy.

Any ideas or recommendations?

Also, any ideas on how to generate smoke that will show airflow inside engine bay?

Old GoPros

Your best bet is an older GoPro. We use them at work in, uh, "challenging" environments. We'd had them completely melted with the housings and everything turned to goo and we can almost always pull the SD cards and get the footage.

If you look just to right of center of this photo, level with the light on the wall, you'll see a GoPro. That one has been there a while and is working just fine. The ones on tripods that we put much closer end up being sacrificial:

Engine bay temperatures are nothing compared to what we subject them to.
