Getting this weekend's thread started....

Saturday morning gas run over to KXBP and back. Eight turkeys and five deer. The ILS 16L at KAFW joining at WIGZU and back over to 52F after missed.

Nary a cloud in the state, a big ‘H’ parked just to the south and lots of RVs moving about the area. Saw Sid, Tony and Steve in a three ship.

A nice RV day….hope the same on your end.

Checked on the bird at the paint shop at SNS ... fiberglass prep is done, but I'm now in the conga line waiting for the painting booth. About 3 weeks to first spray, about 2 until the team goes hard over on metal prep. Hopefully done by the end of April.

And, FINALLY, I got my repairman's certificate this past week after 9 months of phone tag with the local FSDO. The process in the end was very pleasant, but those poor folks at the FSDO are busy and heavily encumbered with covid restrictions.

4 hrs of dialing in the rigging, high power performance runs, new panel and autopilot. 4 airports, 12 landings, two lunches at airport cafes with friends and a plane wash. It has been a very busy and bumpy last two days. Tomorrow is formation practice. The fun with these birds never gets ends.

Tinkering in the cabin... including removing & replacing the sunshade since the original one was damaged, causing it not to retract and extend smoothly. Did a thorough pre-flight since my next departure will be on Tuesday at 0530, where it'll be too dark to see things in detail. Next weekend, to Northern California.

Golf Trip

Two buddies and I flew for 27 holes of golf at Miramont Country Club in College Station TX. RV-10 carried 3 adult men and 3 set of golf clubs with full fuel. You gotta love the 10! Weather was severe clear all day, wind never above 5mph. Temps were 48 at takeoff and 72 coming home. It was a GREAT DAY! (IF you don't ask my score!)

Grounded for a day. Or two

Another weekend another snowstorm. Had to clean the airframe around midnight to prevent ice accumulation.

Wow +1

Vlad, amazing pictures.
I think you should call yourself a Van’s “Beta”-Tester.
I know of no RV that is put through cold weather tests like yours is!
When i see those pics, i ask myself why i pay hangar rent each month.

But then.........to have a hangar is nice.....especially when doing maintenance during this time of the year.

I did some more IAS/TAS calibration flights and re-worked the spinner bulkhead to get a tighter fit.

Southern Ontario

It was a beautiful weekend in Southern Ontario. The snow is almost gone from the bumps that we call ski hills. Here is a shot of the Blue Mountains near Collingwood, Ontario.

Cheers, Sean

I spent the day trying to figure out what was wrong with my right pmag😕
It was missing in action during my mag check. Hope it is still under warranty, it was installed in 1997 on the engine, then in a a lancair. It looked like a nice day to fly around Georgian Bay...maybe next week.

Main Squeeze....

Made a wonderfully straight trailing edge with the ole main squeeze.

Section 7 complete!!

Sunday was my first weekend with my new RV-8. After four months of working with the owner and mechanic to get an annual done and good weather to go pick it up everything finally worked out yesterday and I’m now the new owner of an RV-8. Had an unbelievable flight home to the Northern VA area from Michigan and the plane flew like a dream.
