iPhone mount

Anyone have an example of an iPhone mounted on the panel or cabin? I want to mount our electronic, interactive checklist that's on an iPhone 6+ preferably in as much of a heads up position as possible, but not obstructing the outside view. We have an iPad that currently covers up most of the right side panel. Appreciate any suggestions.

Consider a bicycle mount

I have one installed in the RV, it's very secure and the cradle shares duty between my plane and bike. The mount is designed to be bolted to the bike stem, but in the RV is bolted to a bracket at the side of the panel. It also permits the phone to be easily rotated between landscape and portrait to suit whatever app is being used. The brand I use is Topeak but there are others with a similar configuration.

Hi,

Have a look on line for the Ram Mount products. I've never had much luck with the suction cap types, however this company gives you HEAPS of mounting options.

Basically they consist of a mount, an adjustable arm then the cradle. I suggest the form fit cradle. With this combo, you will NEVER loose your phone in flight!

I have an Iphone 6S mounted in a cradle on the far left side of the panel of My RV7 and an ipad mini in another on the far right hand side. For a panel mount, you can simply screw a ball mount to a spare piece of real estate (I ended up using an instrument panel mounting screw). You can also buy different length arms to get your geometry spot on. They are also VERY sturdy!

Might not be the cheapest option however they are simple, very adjustable and well constructed.

iphone bike mount

Can you post a pic. of it mounted?

There is some innovative bike gear available these days that is well suited to aircraft use because it's very light and strong. I also use this mount on my mountain bike, the phone clips on or off the mount in an instant and it's rock solid with 90 degrees of rotation and a positive detent. With a shortage of space on the panel I am experimenting with mounting locations for phone and ipad. In this case the phone mount is attached to a temporary bracket, but it can be bolted to any suitable location. When I upgraded from iphone 4 to SE I just bought a new cradle and contnued using the same mount.

Below are photos of my cell phone mount. I cut off the swivel portion of an old iphone holster. I used the existing nut plates in back of the panel and countersunk the holster to accept flat head screws to attach the mount to the panel. My main objective for mounting the iphone was to be able to use the Foreflight Checklist App in more of a heads up position.
