Ron,
What about disassembling one end of the Bellcrank, 2 rivets, and adding another spacer?
I have not done that as of this moment, but it sounds promising to think about it.

I think that you will find it a joy to follow the RV-10 directions. They are good and when you put something together and it does not fit, then there is something wrong. I found that to be true...

I have not heard of anyone using the Cessna type selector. The fuel would feed from both fuel tanks at the same time.
Why is that?
