In the process of annualing the Mooney my partner claims that you should never use fuel to clean wheel bearings. We used Varsol.

Appreciate the responses and different experiences, given that the starter on the plane may be changed eventually and so may the battery it seems prudent to use no 2 gauge wire to cover all...

When building my -6 I also ran the engine quite a few time with the wings off... and it worked out well for me. No after effects or damage of any kind was apperent..except to my hearing! Its hard...
