I use a RAM spring-loaded "X" mount that hangs the ipad mini from my panel edge. A good solution and no overheating problems.

I think I'm on the right track

I've got the Garmin autopilot running off of a G5 and a GMC 307, so presumably it's the same procedure. I just don't have the manual for the G3X.

I have this system and have been extremely happy with it. I got the AL-180 bottle and that much O2 lasts a shockingly long time with the pulse demand thing going. Probably sufficient for most users....
