If you truly have a 1991 or earlier cowl, I'm 100 percent sure it is polyester with a layer of white gel-coat on the outside.

Do a search for Dave Anders' RV-4. Also, Kent Paser wrote the book "Speed with Economy" where he did improvements to his Mustang 2. I do hear that it's hard to find a hard copy of the book though.

I fly cut mine to about 4 7/16 and I would not want to go any more than 4 5/8 inches for sure.

112-116 millimeters on the metric side.

The wing cutout is the same regardless of the landing gear type. Aiming the light is your discretion after assembly. Some folks put one in each wing, one for taxi, one for landing.
