Cost

Hi Greg,

How much will the new exhaust tubes cost? Is there any warranty on the original ones?

Also, how much is the carbon monoxide detector through Van's.

I couldn't find either of these items...

Thanks for the comments

1. Yes, I have been selecting a runway.

2. When I push the VNAV button on the autopilot, an altitude of about 1000 AGL appears. I thought that was the problem so I tried turning it down to ground...

VNAV to the runway with Dynon Skyview HDX

I have an RV-12iS and the VNAV function on the Dynon autopilot does not fly me to the runway. It works fine to fly to the airport but when I put a runway as the final destination with a threshold...

I had this exact problem!

After resealing it twice with Permatex #2 and having the leak recurr (I?m a slow learner), I used a high temperature thread sealant. Permatex High temp sealant 59214 from the local Tractor Supply...

Thanks for the suggestions

I have been checking and adjusting the flapperons and the upper wing skin trailing edge. Now the other wing (left) is slightly heavy and my right wing drop with stalls is much less severe. I will...

Non-working Aux fuel pump in 912iS

Hi All,
I have been flying my RV-12iS for 66 hours and this problem just popped up. This is on a Rotax 912is Sport engine with 2 electric fuel pumps (and no mechanical fuel pump).

The auxiliary...

That's an interesting idea Jim

I had to get out my KAI to see what you were talking about.

Thanks for the suggestion.

2 years and $88,000 (unpainted)

I was going to build a 14 but was concerned that it would be too hard as a first airplane build, so I went with a 12iS. I'm glad I did because it was a lot harder than I thought. Of that two years,...

thanks for the suggestions

I checked the flapperon setup and they were both 1/8" down per the KAI. I'm leaning towards the heavy wing hypothesis. I notice when I'm in a full power climb, I do have to hold left aileron but...

Two RV-12iS flight issues

Hi all,

1. On takeoff I am adding right rudder to keep the ball centered, but then I notice the plane's nose is yawed to the right. I thought this was my imagination but after over 150 take offs,...

I bought a 20 gal Northern Tool compressor from which is in adequate for painting, drilling or die grinders. If you want to do those things, get a 60 or 80 gallon compressor. If not, I recommend...

Thanks for the suggestions

I did check the prop pitch angles and the blade track and both were good. Any suggestions on where I can get a dynamic prop balancing not too far from Eugene Oregon?

Creeping bottom cowling hinge pins

Hi all,

On my newly completed RV-12iS with a Rotax 912iS engine, the bottom cowling hinge pins (the lower, longer ones) creep up out of their hinges after several hours of operation. I've tried...

It's hard but doable

I just finished my RV-12iS and flew it a week ago. It took me two years. There is so much to learn in building an airplane. Here are a few things off the top of my head.

1. Order your kits well...

What is an "epoxy wipe"?

Hi Dan.

Three years ago you wrote:

"I prefer an epoxy wipe, as there is no shrinkage during cure, no long term
chemical or environmental issues, and it's a one-shot application."

Don't make this mistake installing the wheel fairings!

Page 36A-06. When installing the left outboard main gear fairing bracket (U-00002 and U-00004) with the long AN3-40A bolts, I broke off both bolts in the holes in the axle. Sounds pretty dumb but...

This thread saved me from making the same mistakes you made in the wing doubler. Your trouble with fluting the wing tip rib helped me as well. It's not as easy as it looks.
