Yup,

I'm thinking if Garmin made it simple then maybe they would have more sales. Making upgrades more difficult and complicated will turn some people off.

I do agree, if you fly your plane weekly without fail, then a battery maintainer would be of little use to you. Allowing your AGM battery to drop down to 12.4 volts isn't good. That's about 65% SOC....
