Sounds like you got the problem solved, but just for grins let me check.
You did align the wheel pants and gearleg fairings with the plane jacked up so there was no weight on the wheels...

I too found a flashlight (a square LED type) in a wing bay while
doing an annual. It got left there when doing an upgrade to the servo
on the aileron, so the flashlight was in a dangerous...

Grand Canyon

We did the Grand Canyon two years ago in April. Awesome! Just programed the Lat/Lon waypoints into the 430W and let the autopilot take us across.
Also Sedona and Meteor Crater.... Arizona is awsome...

I have discovered that RV's will "fall through the flair" if we get them too slow. I love my AFS AOA for that reason!

I would not fly IFR with that panel as configured.
I would use a 430W, AFS EFIS, and Gemini BU

The panel as illustrated has too many cut corners to
fly in the clouds...

I built in a lock slot so I can lock the canopy 1-2 in. open. If you are sure the canopy cover will stay put you can use that.
I also put some web "stirrups" on the cover to keep it from being moved...

for drilling conduit holes in wing ribs an Irwin speedbore works great!
You can extend them with any 1/4 inch hex extension and go the distance.
they are self-centering and the ears on the speedbore...

I got the same "sermon" from Jerry when I was building my 9A and incorporated the AFS AOA in from the start. I have almost 300 hrs on it and love what it does for stablizing my approach.

4.5 volts is enough to start a fire. One of the demonstration tricks I use in emergency and survival training is to show how to start a fire with two 1.5v
