Consider UL

Peter, UL engines are air cooled, direct drive, several thousand dollars cheaper and built in Belgium. Ray Lawrence has motor mounts and cowls already made, plus it’s 130 H.P.

Hole in firewall

Guys, I have a 2” hole in my RV-12 firewall for the UL engine’s computer plug. The wire bundle is about 1” in diameter.


What’s the best (approved) way to seal the hole and render it...

As Paul pointed out, it’s not a matter of owning an -8…it’s a matter of having a rear set of brakes/rudder pedals..hardly any have that, except Bruce Bohannon.

‘P-factor’ is not responsible for pitch up. P factor causes left yaw in our airplanes because the down-swinging propeller blades have a higher angle of attack than the up-swinging blade.

Jeremy, if you look at the -12’s wings, you’ll notice much larger area and remember, the airplane is a lot lighter as an SLA. Mine is close to flying with the UL engine.

Great advice, Ross but few will heed. I flew my -10 for 11 years with an Aerosport IO-540, with multiple trouble free trips to the Bahamas and back, listening to that engine purr.

No. Is 4 hours not enough? You have 3.5 hours with a 30 minute reserve and most bladders seem to have enough capability for that much air time.

The UL engine is one amazing piece of work and he still pulled 36” at 13,000’! Amazing, but he needs to go near 18,000’ for real life numbers.
