Serial encoder

I have installed several esg to parallel encoders. If you don't have the proper pins, crimping tools,wire and experience, it would be much easier to swap to a serial encoder.

I agree coverage will vary depending on location and altitude. My tracks were mostly low level especially when I was flying 500 ft following the Brazos river.

Cowl clearance

I did not modify the cowl. It is the newer epoxy style. A close fit for a couple of spark plug wires. I used right angle connectors on those.
