I’m surprised that no one has mentioned the time, cost, and aggravation of repairing or replacing an damaged/destroyed wheel pant after a flat.
Something to consider in the cost tradeoff.

I determined where the high point of the vent should be so that the flexible tube is relaxed and unlikely to kink, then I fabricated a small clip to support the tube so it couldn’t flop over again....
