Vans Kit

I priced out the pieces, Vans is actually slightly cheaper to just buy their kit, and you won’t forget anything. Took about half a day to install. The kit is really a kit, so you need to cut metal,...

No

Short answer is no, no scaling information is sent via RS-232. When hooked to a 4xx via RS232, it functions pretty well as a “GPS” HSI though, which is how I have mine right now until I get the GAD29...

Beyond QB

Jay Pratt (https://vansairforce.net/rvcentral.htm) has some that are beyond quick build stage. There was an ad on here, but looks like it fell off the 30 days.

Speaking from experience, you don't want to put anything down the oil fill tube, you might not get it back without removing the tube or the oil pan (seems unlikely I know, but it has happened....

Big No

An RV was lost due to a plug of sealant in the fuel line (http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2015/10/mike-danko-vans-aircraft-company-sued.html). Use proper lube on the NPT side and nothing on the flared...

Same card part numbers?

Are all the cards the same part number? If not, they might be Jeppesen specific, which I believe takes the Jeppesen version of the programmer instead of the Garmin one. See this FAQ from Garmin....

Talking 0MG Europe

Mike, it would be pretty cool to see the AOPA 0MG RV-10 pal'ing around Europe, if you could muster the courage and resources to cross the Northern Atlantic with it. If you ever need someone to carry...

Mine has the WH-00125 and an update page to chapter 55. My guess is the chapter 55 update has been incorporated into the main plans now, if you purchased the usb more recently? Otherwise, most of the...

Test It First

Not sure if you have tested your current sender yet, but if you look in the old Van's instructions for that oil pressure sender, there is a test procedure. Search the inter webs for VOP-100, you will...

For Basic IFR, I Would Do GPS Only

1. There shouldn't be a debate about this (straight from the current IFR ACS (https://www.faa.gov/training_testing/testing/acs/media/instrument_rating_acs_change_1.pdf)):

Basically, if you shoot an...
