The depth concern is basically for any panel; the sub panel is just too close to the panel for a typical aviation radio to fit without modifying the subpanel.

You will not use the stock vans panel.

You will need to remove, or not install, the lower panel angle. The CF panel sits lower than the stock panel.

Pitot heat

Get the GAP26 Regulated Pitot tube.

Turn it ON after engine start.

Turn it OFF before engine shutdown.

Never have to worry about it.

Make sure the master cylinders are FULLY extended, especially the last 1/16". If they are not, and you try and fill/bleed, you will have problems.

After additional research, it looks like B&C changed the OV threshold on the new LR3D regulator to 16.25 volts.

I would be curious to see if the this was the regulator being used in the case of BMS...
