Sikaflex is your friend

I really cannot see any reason why one should battle with drilling of holes ad fitting screws if Sikaflex is so easy to do.

Please do yourselves a big favor and go the Sikaflex route.

Angry Here is a test you can try

Once had an RV14 that seemed to always have a headwind when flying. Turned out to be the machined aftermarket static ports.

Go out to the runway and adjust your altimeter to a nice round number....

When you get the new brackets please smooth all edges well. If you do not do that, you will find that they will crack as well over time. Edges not smoothed are serious stress risers.
