What's in your hangar?

Me first. Just Fun stuff!

humptybump 03-28-2013 06:10 PM

I was saying "meh" right up until I saw that M14P !

Acrophil 03-28-2013 07:43 PM

Two of them! One on the Pitts and one on the Sukhoi. Lots of vertical.

Toobuilder 03-28-2013 07:47 PM

What - no cars, guns or ground support equipment!?

What kind of hangar is that?;)

rockwoodrv9 03-28-2013 07:47 PM

There is something about a round engine. Even on the Kitfox with the fake round cowling, it looks good. With the real thing, priceless. Nice hangar mates you have.

Acrophil 03-28-2013 07:54 PM

Here is the ground support!
The Pitts, twin co and RV are mine. The Sukhoi belongs to a friend but is sold. We are putting it in a box to go out of country next week.

Toobuilder 03-28-2013 08:00 PM

Always liked the Twinkies... Looks like you have the bases covered.

WAY too clean in there though. How can you operate with such an absence of clutter?

Acrophil 03-28-2013 08:14 PM

It's much worse a lot of the time.
Here is the previous ground support. More power than m14p!
520HP all aluminum DART motor.

Nice RT! I rented one for a week and liked it so much, I was set on getting one. Then I rode the K1600GT :D

My old hangar mates, both of which are missed:

That is way cool! Do you rest your leg on the header?

Where I spend most weekends, there is always something to work on.:)

Weasel 03-29-2013 04:37 PM

Not a lot

200HP Angle valve RV-8 with Hartzell C/S basic VFR

Fisher Classic biplane undergoing cassler VW 85HP engine installation

Me too, the problem is the the issues seem to go up as the cube of the number of toys. I would really rather go flying than overhauling a differential.

Alfa Romeo GTV?

Acrophil 03-29-2013 05:03 PM

Toys multiply the work and the fun. You always need folks around to play with.

The wire guard on the header keeps your leg away from the heat. No issues. Automatic trans - just put it in drive. You can light the tire off at 60+.

When I saw the title of the thread I thought it was a letter from the city!!

I would post pics from mine, but the door has been stuck closed since Dec...

My drinking buddy Don "Mac" McKibben pilot of the P-51C ""Miss Lace" of the 486th FS / 352nd FG "Bluenose *******s of Bodney". He's on the right. Mr. Skinny is on the left. He doesn't drink much. Beer goes right through him.

n82rb 03-29-2013 08:48 PM

here is mine, to bad the airport won't let me keep the Sea-Doo in there also.

Actually it is a GTA, The GTA was the same shape as the GTV, but was built with aluminum external panels replacing the standard steel panels. The 'A' stood for "Alleggerita", Italian for "lightened".

Yeah, I know, nothing to do with RVs. But hey, it is aluminum, has plexiglass windows and dual ignition.

Nice

Sadly my hangar only has one occupant at the moment, although it is taking up all my time. I have enough space for 1 or 2 mor toys.

G/f says go for the mg a, but I'm thinking about building a Caterham or maybe an ultima.

Btw Phil, thanks for stopping by last night, good to meet you and talk panels and round engines.

pierre smith 03-30-2013 11:30 AM

The working girl :)

My -10 and the working girl...my 500 gallon/50' wingspan workhorse that pays for all the other toys:

My hangar also has an array of woodworking tools, a lathe (in the left corner), bandsaw and my Primo ceramic grill (made in the USA, Atlanta), that the employees use to grill their/our lunches during the season:

It's not the tidiest because it's a "daily-use" hangar where my two Marine stepsons change their car oil/girlfriends car oil and so on.

Best,

Vlad 03-30-2013 05:07 PM

:)

SHIPCHIEF 03-30-2013 05:17 PM

Yay for the slightly messy hangars where work keeps RV-s in the air and tractors maintaining the runway!
Air compressor, bandsaw, drillpress, welder, table saw, tool boxes, etc etc, and used frequently. :D
It's heaven on earth.

Strasnuts 03-30-2013 05:28 PM

Work Hangar

scsmith 03-30-2013 08:18 PM

Me too!

Plus one!
I used to autocross with the nor cal Alpha club in my ill-spent youth, they welcomed me even though I had a 1966 Volvo 1800. But the GTV ( and GTA) I've always thought were very pretty, and very nice handling cars. The later years with the Bosch D-jetronic were a pain, as was my 1971 Volvo 1800 E with the same pain. But the GTV with a pair of DCOE's was a great car.

jlfernan 03-31-2013 03:38 PM

As close I can get to a hangar at the moment. I picked up this bad boy while I'm waiting on my wings.
