Highest Airport East of the Mississippi
It's Mountainair (2NCO) near Burnsville, NC at 4400 feet. It's a private strip for mountaintop development that includes a private golf club. Some of the most spectacular views in the country.

I've flown over a picturesque mountain top airport in CT. Listed as private wish I could land there.

Ted, did you get Grundy (KGDY 2,304) when you were landing at Tazewell and Hot Springs?
My wife asked the airport manager at Tazewell how they got identifier KJFZ. His name is Jerry McReynolds. He said he submitted the typical things like KTAZ, but the government insisted on one more so he added "KJFZ" for "Jerry's F&@$/! Zoo" as a joke. Of course, that is what was assigned. |
Los Alamos, NM
Sorry no photos
Also Catalina's airport in the sky and Sedona, AZ already covered. Bob Axsom |
