Possible engine for RV9?

http://www.usjabiru.com/jabiru_3300.htm

I know Jabiru put one of their 170 HP engines in an RV6 with decent results, but has anyone thought about the 120 HP version for a RV9?

I think it would be less efficient than, for example, an O-235, because the 120hp comes at 3300rpm instead of the more typical 2700-2800. A small fast-turning propeller is less efficient than a larger and slower one. Also it might simply be too little weight in the nose.

Yes good points. I looked at the HP to RPM piece but hadnt even considered the weight difference. The Jab is 178 while the Lyc is about 215...thats nearly 40 lbs.

Wait a second. Did I read this right? You are saying you wouldn't use the Jabiru because it doesn't weigh enough? Very funny.

jabiru

No, he's saying he wouldn't use the jabiru because it would adversly effect the weight and balance by moving it to the rear.
