Tire pressure

What tire pressure gives the best landing feel in an RV8???

dedgemon 06-24-2010 06:18 PM

Huh!

If there is a tire pressure that ensures a zero rate of decent touch down then put me in for double. :D:D:D

Honestly, I can't image it making a difference! Unfortunately, its the pilot that matters!

Optimum (-8) Tire Pressure...

Darryl, asking for an optimum tire pressure is like asking what's the best primer... everyone has a different experience and opinion. That said, my personal experience is that 45psi is right for my bird. My suggestion is that you start at 35psi and test for yourself. Then, using +5psi increments, test again until you have tested at 50psi. Try each pressure on different surfaces. Upon completion of this exercise, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and you will have determined the optimim tire pressure for YOUR bird. Hope this helps.

Have a Great Day!

40 to 45

has been what I've used for almost 3 years with no problems.

40 - 45 for my -8 as well. You can always bleed some off for grass work if necessary.

Ever notice that one tire wears sooner than the other? My theory is that this is due to P factor.

If not that, then it's due to the prevailing crosswind at the home airport.

Or . . .?
