Autoplug crush washers?
I am running dual P-mags with auto plugs.
I am reluctant to take the plugs out except to replace, in order to inspect, because I have been unable to find a source of replacement crush washers. Is this just a local problem or have others run into this? With aviation plugs you can heat/quench and reuse, but it hardly makes sense with auto washers. Thoughts? What are others doing in this situation? Thanks. |
Hi Steve,
I ran into the same problem with my LS PIII ignition/auto plugs. This is what I did---others may have better solutions. I cut the original washer off the auto plug (they don't seem to want to come off easily after they have been crushed) using angle wire cutters, measured the thickness and diameter of the washer, and went to my local NAPA auto parts and bought a supply of copper washers of the same dimensions. I now reuse the washers after the heating/quench and plug cleaning process. Cheers, db |
