USA PPL Study Materials....or Testing information?!?!

I'm just starting ALL of this stuff and i'm looking for Study Materials for the written PPL test. Any free online study materials....or tips about what is actually on the written test?

Are these materials included when i sign up with a local flight club to start obtaining my training hours, etc.?

thanks guys.

Matt

Matt,

Before you buy anything go and talk to your local flight school. They should provide you with a list of study materials that they use.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Most of the written test will come from various FAA manuals, particularly:

Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge
http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/a...ilot_handbook/

Aeronautical Information Manual
http://www.faa.gov/airports_airtraff...ns/ATpubs/AIM/

Airplane Flying Handbook
http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/a...lane_handbook/

all of which are available from the FAA's website, for free.

Amazon.com will usually discount these manuals 20 - 40%, and ship for free if the order is over $25.00. You should be able to acquire the hard copies of almost (AIM, PHAK) everything you need for the written for less than $30.00.

Dauntless

Hey guys.. All my students use the Dauntless system, it's cheap, super good, free updates for life and has multiple modes for everything. It's the best I've found so far. Google (Dauntless aircraft data bank questions) it and you shall receive :)

ebay is your friend

I bought a set of used king dvds on ebay. Not free, but they seem to hold their value fairly decent. Just resell when finished.

I have a set of King DVDs I'd like to sell. It includes the manuals.
I paid $300. I'll take $100 for them.
