Fuel Pump - On or Off ???

Every plane I fly has different "rules" for the fuel pump.

For those that have an airflow performance fuel pump on their IO - what do you do?

On to start / On to prime, then off / On for takeoff and landing / On all the time / etc.....????

Here's what I do. I'm sure there are many variations ymmv

Cold start: On to prime for 3-4 seconds
Hot start: No priming, throttle full, mixture lean
Takeoff: On to 1000 feet
Landing: On during Downwind
Normal Cruise: Off
High Altitude Cruise (12K+): On as needed depending upon fuel psi

idle/taxi = off?

Procedure

I have an ECI IO360 with Airflow performance pump on my 7.

Starting cold- Mix rich, 1/4 throttle, pump on for 3 seconds, then off for start.

Hot Start- Mix rich, 1/4 throttle, pump on for 3 seconds, off. Mix lean, throttle crack a little. Crank. On the second "catch" mix full rich, throttle idle. Works in even the hottest conditions. (I have no purge valve).

After run up, just prior to take off, pump on. Remains on until at least 2000 ft AGL.

Pump on during tank changes, then off.

Before landing- pump on before throttle reduction

Off after clearing runway.

Works for me.
