Garmin G5 Fault

I am installing a G5 as a stand alone standby instrument. Eventually, I will have a magnetometer attached via the CAN buss but at the moment I have just attached power and fired it up.

I get the following indications:

- message saying "Hardware Fault"
- red X through the airspeed and "Airspeed Error"
- "Aligning" on the PFD which doesn't go away

I've looked through the install manual and can't find anything I should be configuring. Have I got an irrecoverable hardware problem or is there some way to fix this?

Ask Garmin...

I would suggest you to ask Garmin expert team directly. at: g3xpert@garmin.com

You may try pulling the red plugs if you have already done so.
Will it go into the setup menu?

The red plugs are out. I have the pitot and static tubes connected but the other ends are taped up. I guess it's possible that the "blockage" is causing the airspeed issue and that in turn is preventing the alignment - if the attitude relies on airspeed like the Dynon.

I'll check it out today and see if I can get into the setup menu and see what that might say.

That was it. Guess pressure/temperature had changed so there was a negative pressure in the pitot tube or something. Anyway, all is well ......
