Brake Caliper Removal
I'm getting ready to put new tires on my plane. My question is, do I just take the two bolts out of the caliper and that will let the outside brake pad come loose so I can remove the wheel like it is on a C-172, or do I need to take the entire caliper off?
If I just have to remove the pad holder, what is the torque value of the bolts for reassembly? |
The -8's axles are a little different than the -7, but the brakes should be the same. Just unsafety and remove those two 1/4" bolts that go through the caliper to the pad plate and the pad plate comes out.
Whether correct or not, I use 75 in-lbs to tighten them. I used one extra AN960-4L (light) washer to get the drilled bolt head aligned better for safety wire. Don't forget to safety wire 'em! |
That's what I needed
Thanks Dan, I just wanted to make sure about the torque. I'll make sure and safety wire them back.
